The Art Flick chapter of Trout Unlimited concerns itself with the protection of the coldwater fisheries of Suffolk County Long Island. Our chapter was founded in 1983 as a chartered chapter of Trout Unlimited. Our name was chosen in honor of Art Flick, one of the pioneering coldwater conservationists of New York state.
The work of our chapter focuses on the protection and restoration of the coldwater streams of Long Island and the Long Island estuaries. This includes the Carmans, Connetquot, Nissequogue, Swan, and Peconic Rivers as well as the many spring creeks such as Beaverdam creek and Yaphank creek. For our work on restoring fish passage on the Carmans river for diadromous fishes, we have received the NY State South Shore Estuary Reserve's 2007 Group Stewardship Award.
Our efforts to protect Long Island's salmonid habitats continue and we welcome your help!
