The Carmans river is one of the most historic brook trout fisheries in the United States. In 19th century the Carmans first became famous as the site of Senator Daniel Webster's landing of a 14 lb. brook trout, still thought to be one of the two largest brook trout ever landed.

Since our founding in 1983, the Art Flick Chapter of Trout Unlimited (AFTU) has worked to protect the Carmans river and to restore it, to the greatest extent possible, to the magnificent fishery it once was. At the present time the Carmans, while still maintaining a healthy native brook trout population, is facing grave threats. In 2010 AFTU began to retain legal expertise, and to incur legal expenses, in order to carry out our battle to protect this historic river. For this reason AFTU has created a special fund, the Carmans River Defense Fund, to finance the legal and scientific costs needed to protect the Carmans river as a legacy for future generations. We desperately need your financial donations in order to help us to continue our efforts to prevent over-development and other abuses that would harm this ecological treasure!
The Carmans River Defense Fund is specifically earmarked for any legal and scientific costs associated with our efforts to act as stewards of this river. Your donation will only be used to help us cover the legal and scientific expenses associated with this cause. As a chartered chapter (chapter # 425) of Trout Unlimited, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and your donation is 100% tax deductible.
If you wish to donate, please send a check made out to, Art Flick TU (please also note CRDF on the memo line of your check so that we can make sure that your donation is properly earmarked), to the following address:
