With the approach of a new Trout Season each Spring, so is the anticipation by AFTU volunteers of spending a day volunteering at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's, and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation's "Annual Belmont Lake State Park Family Freshwater Fishing Day" helping to distribute bait & loaner fishing rods. In addition to assisting the event's sponsors, AFTU sets up an organizational booth with information on "Trout Unlimited", and provides free fly rod casting & fly tying instruction to families attending the days activities. It is a fun day... and a way of "Paying it forward!" We hope that our efforts seed the future with aspiring anglers, and potential stewards for our cold water fisheries & river waterways. Please check our "Event, Meetings & Things-to-do" section for the next opportunity to participate in this wonderful Family oriented day in the Great Outdoors!
