 Monthly Chapter Meeting Schedule
  

Monthly Chapter meeting is the SECOND TUESDAY of every month , except for July & August, or as otherwise noted.  Doors open at 7:00 P.M.  All Monthly Chapter meetings begin at 7:30 PM, and new in 2020 at the Connetquot State River Park Preserve in the historic main Clubhouse building on the Preserve grounds.  Parking is in the adjacent parking lot(s) to the rear of the building.  Entry to the main Clubhouse is from the building's rear walkway connecting parking lot to the lighted rear entrance of the main Clubhouse building.  See "Chapter Meeting: Loc. 2025/2026 Fall/Winter Fly Tying Schedule  

  The Saturday morning fly tying sessions start at 9:30 AM and finish by 12:00 PM noon.  The sessions are hosted at the Connetquot River State Park Preserve ~ Oakdale, New York in the Park's historic Main Club House (formerly of the Southside Sportsman's District Club).  Sessions are scheduled from October thru March for the first three Saturdays of each month. Vehicle parking lots are located at the rear entrance of the building.  Planned dates are:

AFTU "CHAPTER FISHING" ~ CONNETQUOT RIVER STATE PARK PRESERVE

   On the planned dates listed below the Park is closed to the General Public for fishing, and is at the "exclusive" use by AFTU Chapter Members to fish & explore this historic Long Island Spring Creek.  Currently we observe a Limit of twelve(12) angler reservations on the river during each fishing session.  Reservations are on the basis of "first come ~ first served". 

If you would like to fish on an AFTU "Park Chapter Day", please CONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION with the AFTU Member Outing Coordinatior.  Space is Limited.

PAYMENT:
Please mail to Paul Puma a check made out for 30 dollars(one session-indicating which session AM or PM) or 60 dollars(two sessions-both AM & PM)... payable to "Art Flick TU" before arriving at the gate on the fourth Monday of the month. This is a new procedure starting April 2021, and we ask everyone to abide by it in order to reserve a spot.

Connetquot River State Park Preserve Fishing Rules & Regulations:
     Read carefully below all of the Park's Fishing Rules & Regulations, know them and abide by them!  It is expected that all Chapter members & their guests will be in full compliance, failure to do so may result in the forfeiting of future reservations for Park Chapter Dates.

      ~ PARK PRESERVE FISHING RULES & REGULATIONS ~

  • FISHING SESSIONS:
    Morning:          8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Noon
    Afternoon:      12:00 PM to 4:00PM
    Evening:         4:00 PM to Dusk(~8:00PM)  (Note: Evening Session is seasonal)
  • All anglers must possess a valid New York State Fishing License in their name and on their person.  It must be produced upon request.
  • AFTU Fees are $30 per angler per four(4) hour session payable in advance of the day of outing (Please review payment procedure above...)
  • RUBBER OR NYLON hip boots or waders only!  NO felt-soled boots or neoprene of ANY kind.
  • There is a two trout possession limit.  When the two fish creel limit is reached, the angler must end the fishing session.
  • Putting any trout on a stringer is prohibited.
  • Please plan on cleaning all kept trout off Park premises.
  • ALL BROOK TROUT above the Hatchery MUST BE RELEASED.
  • There is no wading upstream of the Hatchery - platform fishing only.
  • All fishing is done with conventional fly fishing gear only.   All flies must be single hook, no barbs allowed.  Only one (1) barbless fly can be fished at a time.  No Tandem hooks.  No lead weight of any type may be used!
  • Only one rod may be used per site.
