"DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE CARMANS RIVER"...
*September 23, 2016 marked the 5th Annual "Day in the Life of the Carmans River" celebration in which more than 500
William Floyd School District students took part in examining the Carmans River and collecting scientific data. The results are
being monitored by Office of Education of Brookhaven National Lab, The Central Pine Barrens Joint Planning Council and
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services. Connecting youth with their surrounding natural environment, and the importance of its
stewardship are the theme of the day. It should be noted that the Program has expanded to now include other Long Island
waters in its "Day in the LIfe" studies.
